Disease doesn't happen overnight. You don't wake up one morning “suddenly sick”. It’s a slow progression that results from years of exposure, built up stressors, environmental factors or lifestyle choices. It’s different than just “catching a cold.” In the same regard, you can't expect your health to change for the better in one big, dramatic moment. Most of the time healing happens quietly… one simple habit at a time. I didn’t wake up one day and overhaul my entire lifestyle. I didn’t toss everything in my pantry or suddenly become “healthy.” I started with one simple habit that led to another and then another. You can too.
I’m going to share my story for inspiration and then give you a suggestion as to where to begin yours.
My Story
It's hard for me to pinpoint the exact time I started my own journey with making simple swaps, but one of my earliest memories is becoming aware that bleach was giving me headaches and causing my chest to burn as I breathed it in. My early timeline roughly goes something like this:
- It started with cleaning products — noticing how they made me feel and learning to read labels.
- Then came getting sick enough to start asking deeper questions.
- Enter essential oils
- Giving up gluten wasn’t trendy for me — it was necessary.
- That led to learning about food as medicine.
- Then dairy, sugar, and processed foods slowly fell away.
- I explored autoimmune and paleo approaches — but never all at once.
Each step came when my body was ready or when I was simply ready to explore the next thing. It would’ve been completely overwhelming to do everything at once and that’s why I’m so passionate about helping you make the changes one simple habit at a time.
Today: The FASTer Way Chapter
Fast forward to today. A lot of healing has happened. I’ve seen multiple practitioners that have helped me get to the root of my problems and build foundational wellness. I’ve taken supplements, gone through detoxes, rid my body of parasites, and more, and because of all that, I was ready to add another lifestyle habit that has served me so well: Adding in the FASTer Way workouts. FASTer Way came at just the right time in my life. Ten years ago, I was NOT ready. Even three years ago it would be have been a stretch. I had to be ready, mentally, physically and emotional to add this layer to my life. This part of my story is powerful because it shows growth, not perfection. I joined because the workouts were realistic and doable at home and the program aligns with my values: real food. However, it wasn't until I had been doing the workouts for about 7 months that I finally embraced the second half of the program: keeping track of the food eat. I had a resistance to counting my macros. I also believed carbs were the enemy and the more I tuned into the FASTer Way, I more I learned, they weren't. I’m telling you all this to emphasize the importance of choosing goals that are realistic to you RIGHT NOW, and believing you can achieve your goals one simple habit at a time.

Start where I started. Begin by being the gatekeeper of your home and creating a safe haven for your family and friends to gather.
1. Learn to read labels by downloading the EWG's app. Scan the products in your home and learn which ones can stay and which ones should go.
