Why New Year’s Resolutions Rarely Stick

Do you struggle with staying consistent with new habits? Do you tell yourself every January that this is the year you’ll exercise more and make better food choices? Do you make promises to feel better in your body — only to fall short a few weeks into the year?

I see you. I am you. This has been my reality more times than I’d like to admit.

But...what if you and I going about it all wrong? What if the calendar new year isn’t the best time to begin habits that feel overwhelming and hard?

Your Body Was Designed for Seasons

Your body needs seasons just like the world around you. In the U.S., January falls in the heart of winter. The cold has settled in. Winter is a season of hibernation. Of slowing down. Of rest. Or at least — it should be.

So what if you leaned into winter instead of fighting it? What if you gave yourself permission to wait — and saved the “harder” habits for spring, when energy naturally rises, days get longer, moods feel lighter, and being active feels easier? How does that sound? More realistic and achievable, I hope.

Spring is a time of renewal. Of fresh beginnings. Nature responds to the warmth — and we can too.

The Secret to Lasting Change: Start Where You Are

Here’s what I’m proposing: Take your cue from nature. Choose habits that align with the season you’re in right now. Instead of forcing big changes when your body is craving rest, focus on small, life-giving shifts that support wellness gently.

Winter offers the perfect opportunity to start inside your home.

Why Your Home Environment Matters More Than You Think

During winter, we spend more time indoors — and the air inside your home is often far more toxic than you realize. Cleaning products, candles, plug-ins, laundry detergents, and air fresheners quietly add stress to your body every single day. So what if your new habit this season was creating a home that actually supports your health? A space that feels calm, safe, and restorative. A place that lifts your mood on heavy days. A home that helps your body heal instead of constantly fighting stress.

This one simple seasonal habit swap can:

• Clean the air
• Calm the nervous system
• Promote deeper sleep
• Uplift mood and emotions
• Strengthen immune health
• Reduce sickness
• Lower toxic burden
• Support balanced body systems
• Improve focus and clarity
• Breathe life into your space

Small changes. Big impact.

Health Is More Than Food and Exercise

The focus is often only on what you eat and how much you move  when it comes to health- but environmental stress plays a massive role in how you feel too. Toxins overload the body. When this happens, your liver cannot filter out all the invaders  fast enough and a host of chronic health conditions result.

Stress hormones rise.
Inflammation increases.
Energy drops.

Ditching harmful chemicals and replacing them with life-giving alternatives can be one of the most powerful wellness choices you make!

A Gentle Seasonal Reset (One Step at a Time)

Month 1: Swap Your Cleaners
Look under your sinks. Do a full sweep. Toss household cleaners, laundry detergents, dish soaps, and harsh chemicals. Replace with cleaner, non-toxic alternatives that get the job done and actually supports optimal wellness-living above the wellness line, not fighting sickness.

Month 2: Clear the Air
Throw away candles, plug-ins, and artificial air fresheners. These pollute your home more than secondhand smoke and disrupt hormones — often contributing to headaches and fatigue. Swap for a diffuser and essential oils to purify and freshen the air.

Month 3: Nourish From the Inside Out
Add a daily red liquid superfood to lower inflammation and boost natural energy. No extreme diet overhaul — just gently giving your body what it needs to thrive.

Small shifts done consistently, create real transformation.

A New Way to Think About Wellness.

You don’t need to exhaust yourself chasing perfection. You need rhythms. You need habits that match the season of life you’re in. When you honor your body instead of forcing it, consistency becomes natural. And when spring arrives — you’ll be rested, stronger, and ready for the next layer of growth. You don’t need another all-or-nothing reset. Real health isn’t built in one big moment. It's built in small consistent habits done over time. One season. One habit. One step at a time.

This winter, give yourself permission to start gently. Create a home that supports healing. Lower the stress your body carries. And trust that each simple swap is moving you closer to feeling your best.

Hi There!

Hello! I'm Jen. Welcome to my little corner of the world. I am a midlife, empty-nest mom who has a heart for health, home, and hospitality. I help empty nest moms rediscover their purpose and find community by creating a wellness lifestyle and business. I invite you to join me in creating a non-toxic, happy, healthy home for you and your loved ones to thrive and enjoy life to the fullest!  I don't know about you, but I hope to have many good years left for adventures with my husband and playing with future grandkids.

I used to struggle with Hashimoto's, a sluggish thyroid, fatigue, and and a heaviness of sadness that weighed me down—all brought on by exposure to mold. It felt overwhelming, like I was stuck in a fog with no way out.

Then I discovered Joy essential oil, which changed everything. It brought a spark of hope and helped me feel lighter, step by step. It was the first step to finding the healing I longed for.

If you, like me, have struggled with health issues and are ready to write a different story, I am here to help you make a shift toward adopting holistic lifestyle habits that help you thrive, not just survive each day. Let me take the overwhelm out of where to start.

If that’s you, let's start a conversation
