“I want to live healthier...but I just can’t afford it.”

If you’ve ever thought that, I see you.

I
 was you.

I remember the season when I was tired all the time, walking around with this heaviness I couldn’t explain—depression, low energy, zero motivation—and feeling helpless to change it. That was my normal.

And the when I learned my body was literally overloaded with toxins, I knew I couldn’t mess around anymore. Organic became non-negotiable. But even then, I found a way to shift without wrecking our budget.

The truth is, just like the fuel you put in your car affects how well it runs, the quality of food (and products) you use every day affect how your body functions. Poor fuel may have keep you
running for the short term, but a  breakdown, however slow and subtle, is inevitable.

Small Steps Over Big Spends

I didn’t go all-in overnight and you don't have to either. Every little change has the power to make a big difference.
I started:

  • Making homemade meals
  • Slowly eliminating processed food
  • Cleaning with natural products
  • Reading labels
  • Reducing sugar
  • Learning about essential oils
  • Choosing new personal care products

So...Is It Really “Too Expensive”?

Here’s the deal: living healthy can cost money. But so does NOT living healthy.

💸 Fast food, eating out , weekend Target runs, entertainment
💸 Candles, wine, impulse buys, nail appointments
💸 Doctor visits, medications, time off work, emotional toll of chronic fatigue

You're  already spending—it’s just not always where it counts.

Health Isn’t an Expense. It’s an Investment.

An expense is something you spend on now that may not have lasting value.

An investment is a choice that can yield long-term payoff.

That’s what real wellness is. Invest now—or pay later.  That’s the hard truth I had to learn.

And while the cost may feel high at first, the cost of not investing? It’s your energy, your freedom, your joy.

You Can Start Today—On a Budget

You don’t have to buy all-organic overnight or toss everything under your sink today.

Here are a few ideas of how to start:

  1. Cook at home. Commit to stop eating out. Hands down, you will save money and be a little healthier for it. Take your own lunch to work. Use real, whole foods. Protein and healthy fats go a long way to keep you full and energized.

  2. Do a kitchen oil swap. Toss inflammatory oils (canola, vegetable) and replace with coconut, EVOO, or avocado oil. Costco sells an 84 oz tub of organic, unrefined cold pressed coconut oil for only $20. ($0.25 an ounce) It will last so...long and it has many great health benefits. At the time I write this, there are also some other great healthy finds at Costco: Chosen Foods Avocado oil, Chosen Foods Classic Mayo (free of the "bad" oils and sugar), Simple Mills crackers, Organic Frozen vegetables, and of course, all the fresh fruits and vegetables. It's definitely worth looking into a membership, if you don't already have one.

  3. Simplify your cleaners. One bottle of Thieves Household Cleaner can do the job of 10 products. I use it clean my bathrooms, mirrors, kitchen, floors, carpet, stains, laundry. Pretty much everything.  It comes concentrated, ready to dilute at the ratio you need. One bottle cost $24.00 and contains the equivalent of 28 16-ounce bottles of multipurpose spray, making it both powerful and sustainable. It will leave your home clean and smelling great.

    4. Think outside the box. You know the coconut oil I mentioned above? Well, it's affordable AND can be used for skincare, as well as cooking, allowing you to slim down your beauty care costs. Your skin is your biggest organ and a reflection of your internal health. Everything that you put on your body gets absorbed into your bloodstream. Knowing what's in your lotions and face care is crucial for your overall health. I have a great DIY recipe for a body that includes coconut oil. Send me a message and I'll be happy to share it. It's been a staple in skincare routine for years.

Coconut Oil can be used for:

  • Moisturizer: nourishes dry skin, lips, and cuticles
  • Makeup remover: Gently dissolves makeup and hydrates skin.
  • Soothes skin irritations: Eczema, psoriasis, and sunburn relief.
  • Anti-aging: Protects against free radicals and fine lines.
  • Natural shaving cream: Smooth and hydrating alternative.
  • Stretch mark cream: Hydrates and improves elasticity.
  • After-sun care: Soothes burns and supports skin healing.
5. Wash produce  Thieves fruit & veggie wash helps when organic isn’t in the budget. Buy organic when you can, but when you just don't see a way, look at the EWG's dirty dozen  and Clean Fifteen list and purchase produce that is shown to have less pesticide and herbicides build up. The EWG is a great resource in general for reading labels and understanding what's in your products.

6. Join the Loyalty Rewards program with Young Living Essential oils- Young Living has over 600 products.  From supplements, to oils to toothpaste, and cleaning, they are your one stop shop. YL has a seed to seal promise of purity. It's what sets them apart from all other essential oil companies.

Ways to save with Young Living:

  • More than oils- Essential oils are a great investment in your health, but YL also has so many everyday products you can start with. For example: Stop buying your laundry soap from Target and purchase a cleaner, better for you detergent from YL and get point back!

7. Drink More waterPurchase a pitcher with a water filter and a stainless steel water bottle. Ditch the sodas and sugary drinks. You are sure to save money! If this sounds too boring, there are many add-ins to make your water more interesting. I like to add lemon or peppermint essential oils or the vitality electrolyte drops. I'm happy to send more ideas your way. #noexcuses
